Medellín rewards the traveler who plans two things well: where they stay, and who they spend their time with. Casacol takes care of the first one, with stays in Medellín and a VIP BlackCard full of perks across the city. VeraID helps with the second, by letting you confirm who someone is before you meet them.
What is the Casacol VIP BlackCard?
Casacol offers stays in Medellín, with locations in Lalinde and Prisma. Every guest receives the Casacol VIP BlackCard, a perks program reserved for Casacol guests. It includes discounts at well-known restaurants, complimentary drinks and free cover at popular bars and rooftops, spa and wellness offers, and curated experiences around the city.
In practice, it turns a stay into a full Medellín experience, with many of the city’s best places already lined up for you. You can see the full list of partners on the BlackCard page.
Why is VeraID part of the BlackCard?
Most of a great trip happens outside your apartment. You book a tour guide, hire a private driver, schedule a massage at your place or meet someone you matched with on a dating app. In many of those moments you are meeting a stranger, arranged through WhatsApp, Instagram or a friend’s recommendation.
VeraID gives you a simple way to confirm who that person is before you meet. That’s why it fits next to the restaurants and rooftops on the BlackCard: it helps you enjoy all of them with more confidence.
How does VeraID build on Casacol’s safety tips?
Casacol’s own guides on staying safe in Medellín and enjoying the city’s nightlife cover the essentials: use registered taxis or ride apps, watch your drink, stay in public places and don’t share your address with people you just met.
VeraID adds the step that comes before all of that: confirming who the person actually is. Whether it’s a date from an app, a private driver recommended on WhatsApp or a guide you found on Instagram, ask for their TRU ID and look it up before you meet.
How does VeraID work?
- Ask for their TRU ID. Guides, drivers, hosts and professionals on VeraID each have one permanent TRU ID.
- Look it up in the app. You see their photo, first name and verification status in seconds.
- Log a check-in. Keep a record of who you met and when, right in your history.
Every provider on VeraID verifies their identity with an official ID document and a biometric face scan, followed by a human review before their TRU ID is issued. As a visitor, you never upload your own ID. You only look up the person you’re about to meet.
When should you use VeraID during your stay?
| Situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| A private driver arranged outside a ride app | Ask for their TRU ID before you get in the car |
| A tour guide you found online | Look them up before the tour starts |
| A home service, like cleaning or a massage | Check their TRU ID before you open the door |
| A first date with someone from an app | Verify before you meet, and meet in a public place |
If someone can’t or won’t give you a TRU ID, that tells you something too. For more on dating in the city, read our guide to dating apps in Medellín and our Colombia travel safety guide.
